Repetitive Strain Injuries

Treatment of Repetitive Strain Injuries in Winnipeg, MB

Repetitive strain injuries (RSI) are a family of injuries affecting tendons, tendon sheaths, muscles, nerves, and joints.

The term may be misleading as they may not always be caused by repetition and can also be caused by force, rapid movement, overuse, static loading, excessive strain, uncomfortable positioning of limbs or holding one’s posture in an unnatural, constrained or constricted position.

Some Examples of RSI Are:

  • Lateral or medial epicondylosis, for example “tennis or golfers elbow.”
  • Bursitis.
  • Tendonopathy, for example in the shoulder, knee or the achilles.
  • Tenosynovitis, for example, de Quervain’s tenosynovitis or trigger finger.
